If you’re reading this, good news.
You’re alive.
If you passed that first checkpoint, even more good news: it means you’re enduring the human experience.
Experiencing & living life is by far the most complex thing you’ll ever go through.
I don’t want to get into that rabbit hole today—that’s a separate series altogether.
Today, instead of talking about things to do, ways to approach things, or any other help-related posts I’ve made previously,
I want to focus on stopping.
Not permanently—that would hinder any great progress you’ve made so far with the endeavors you’re pursuing.
More of a temporary moment for pause & reflection.
My friend Rudy & I have recently become interested in living.
Not living in the biological sense (although that, in its own way, is extraordinary).
I’m talking about really living
The kind where you’re fully present
Where each day is more than just a series of tasks
Where every moment feels like it has the potential to be something special.
Like realising each sunrise is an opportunity.
Not just waking up to get through your to-do list, but to create something meaningful out of the ordinary.
We’ve started to see life not as something that happens to us, but something we can actively shape, even in the smallest ways.
The problem is, that people rarely stop to think about this—we get caught up in the constant rush of life.
People invariably get busy.
Jobs, friends, families, social lives—
They’ll all pull at you like a dog on a mailman’s leg until you die.
But before the onslaught of responsibilities hits for the day, we have this brief, beautiful window.
This moment is where we can decide how we want to arrive for the day head of us.
You have the choice to start your day on the right foot.
A simple 10-second exercise.
It goes like this:
Stop & breathe the air.
A gentle reminder of your existence & the impermanence of all things.
Some deep breaths in.
A few moments to think & reflect.
In these quiet seconds, you’re reminded that whatever happens that day is largely out of your control.
More importantly
You’re alive. Another day to shape the life you ultimately want
How people act toward you, the outcomes of others’ actions
The random inconveniences that will inevitably cross your path
They’re all irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
We spend so much time bracing ourselves for situations that we can’t change
When in reality, it’s not the events themselves
But how we respond to them, will shape our day.
Instead of trying to control every variable
It’s about finding peace in the unpredictability.
Things will go wrong, people will annoy you, and plans will fall apart.
But when you start your day with the understanding that these things don’t define you
They simply happen around you,
It becomes easier to move through life with a little more grace, a little more calm.
Life isn’t about having it all figured out—it’s about how you handle the bumps along the way.
Keep your head up, enjoy the ride, and remember—it’s really not that serious.
Take 10 seconds, right now, wherever you are.
Breathe in. Focus on the things that bring you joy.
And in that moment, realize: you have the power to spend your days however you choose.
So, why not make them count?
Fill them with the people, experiences, and moments that light you up.
Don’t get lost in the chaos or worry about what might go wrong.
You have this one life—might as well make it a bit of fun, right?
Keep going, stay curious, and remember to laugh along the way.
It’s really not that serious
